My name is Pamela Skurulis and I am originally from the Pilbara, Western Australia. It is arid country; dry, red and full of Spinifex. When I was a child I spent many hours exploring the bush with my parents. I learnt to have a deep respect for this country and was excited about finding different rocks, learning the names of the vegetation, and camping out for weeks on end in the middle of nowhere.
We are lucky to be in a country so diverse and beautiful and with large untouched areas such as those locked away in Tasmania, which is now my new home. However, there is a fine line between progress and our natural landscape and I like to bring these issues to head with my glasswork. I make pieces demonstrating beautiful aspects of our environment as well as the ones lost due to our progressing society.
